Its simply SCIENTASTIC!!!!!

When I stepped into the class, the first thing that I noticed was....I was the only boy from 6A. The topic of the day was "oil spills". Our teacher was Miss Nisha(i think). We conducted an experiment........

Aim: To find out a good way to clear up oil spills...............

Step 1: Put in into the bowl
Step 2: Add oil into the bowl
Step 3: Mix it! Baby! Mix it!
Step 4: Watch.....and OBSERVE the effect
Step 5: Write down your observations

We used a few materials like grass, toilet paper, detergent, sawdust etc.
Well, my group consisted of 4 people including me. And 2 of them were very playful. So being playful, they made a delicacy...the one and only "ROJAK". The two of them mixed everything into a bowl and added oil. Then they took turns to mix. Anyway, in the end, we found out that materials that absorb oil can be used to clear oil spills.

I feel that the time is far too short. They could extend the time for the Science Enrichment so that we can spend time doing more experiments.

Overall, my conclusion is......The Science Enrichment programme was fun.

Whiz kid and the Mr English

Today, I am going to compare myself with that boy you see in the newspaper on February 13th 2005. He is none other than Li Ke Wei. I just can't believe it. China kiddies are lording over us. I always thought that they might not do so well as their English will pull their results down. But EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED!!!!!!!! He is goood in every subject!!!! So perfect.

Similarities:
1. We both borrow books from the library.(what a copycat)
2. We are of the same age.(why does he always copy me)
3. We are both boys.(not again...)

Differences:
He sets realistic targets and strive to achieve them.
I do not set targets or maybe sometimes although I don't really try to achieve them.
He reads one book per week.
I read three books per week.(yes, I won him once at last)
He does not wear spectacles.
I wear spectacles.(is that a good or bad thing, huh?)

(what is it anyway)
He likes Singapore because he has the chance to win us, Singaporeans. But in China, he doesn't have any chance as people do better than him. That proves how low the standard is here. Boohoo. So sad.
Me? I like Singapore because I have competitive peers who are not tooo hard for me to compete with and not too easy.

I feel so "dui lian" and "malu" comparing myself with that boy you see in the newspaper on February 13th 2005. Hopefully, in a few years time...Singaporeans lord over China people! Yeah!!!!

My Row Model

My role model is none other than.....Actually, I don't have one.
So now I shall appoint......Mr Yeo Chih Siong as my role model. *CLAP*
Chih Siong is a boy from 6A, he is in the same class as me. He is the math wizard of our class, also a science wizard. Isn't he cool?
I chose him to be my model becuz I am very "lan" in math and he, being the best in math shall motivate me to do well in my math. He is also a very confident and smart person.
I want to be like him:
1. Good in math
2. Good in science
3. A very good leader

Thats all, BYE!!!!

Ouch! Eww...

Today was a typical day...at first. At 8.00am sharp, we lined up and marched to the 6th floor with butterflies in our stomach. We were overwhelmed with apprehension. Luckily, we took our height and weight first. But the worst had not even started...We tested our eyes and went to the IT resource room, I think. I will just skip this part(refer to other blogs). Now, the worst was not over...We went to sit down and waited for our turn to take the jab. With every second that passed, I felt more and more nervous. Would it be like an ant bite? Would it be like a splinter? What would they do to me? Well, "Next, boy!!'. It was my turn! I went there, sat down and answered the rountine questions.
Then, I saw them brandish a needle, or whatever that is. I closed my eyes, clenched my fist and gritted my teeth. Ouch, I said in my mind. Wow! The pain was just...PAINFUL! But it was really nothing. Just a few minutes of pain.
Next, I went to have my second jab. Down on the chair I sat...This time, I shut my eyes, clenched my fist and gritted my teeth even harder, for fear that it would be even more painful. Suddenly, the nurse said,"Done!" I opened my eyes. It was a miracle! I did not feel a thing, maybe a bit. I was so happy. But then, the nurse said,"Ahhh..." I opened my mouth, and down went a few droplets of bitter liquid. Eeew! I almost puked.
Finally I could go back to class. When I came out of the room, the people outside asked,"Was it painful? Did you cry?" And so on.... My answer was the same. "Not really!"
And so I went to class feeling relieved. But then, there is this funny thing. When I took my first jab, it was painful. Now, it doesn't even hurt a bit. As for the second jab, it was not painful at all. But now, as I am typing, my arm is aching from the second jab. Weird, isn't it?

Spelling bee bzzzzzzz...........

Uh oh! It's confession time.....Let me tell u a story first.

Ok! Once upon a time, there lived a boy named (I will tell u). Whenever his teacher gave him the spelling words from assessment books or other resources...This is what goes on in his mind. "Friday is spelling......Today is Monday. It's never too late to learn the spelling on...THURSDAY NIGHT 10PM!"

Then on wednesday, he will browse through the spelling words. Just browse. Finally on thursday... "Accompany is go with..."and the boy goes on and on. Do you know the reaon why he studies only on thursday? Because he has short term memory loss! Hahaha. That boy is me...

Well, i shall change. Never will I do that horrible thing again.
My stratedgy: If I get the words on Friday, on Monday, I shall look through all the spelling words and memory test. On Tuesday, I shall learn....LEARN the words. Then on Wednesday, I shall learn the memory test. On Thursday, I shall get a family member of mine to test me. When I get any of the words wrong, I will ask him/her to test me again and again until I got it all Right! Then presto! I am now ready to fight in class. Prepare to get full marks! Yeah! That's my stratedgy.

Thank You. Learn more, score more!

Do less less, learn much more!

What do MOST teachers do?.......Yes! You are right! They give you alot of work. Worksheets lah, assessment books, exercise books, projects lah, etc... That is what most teachers do. But there are exceptions like Miss Chia. Do you believe in the saying "Do less, Learn more" ? Well, I do. Miss Chia gave us an example of this. Let's say, spelling. Everytime you get your spelling results, aiya! An egg! So, go to school early, then say," Oi, let me copy your corrections!" Then hand in corrections. Get back the paper, wrong again! Same mistakes!!!! Ok, very fustrated. Tell another friend to let you copy the corrections. Copy already, hand in....Wrong again! How are you going to break out of that cycle? The answer is do less, learn more. You take what you learn and remember it for life. Then you will never repeat the same old mistake. Ok? Like how do you spell "unconscious"? Some people like me always spell it as "unconcious"! So I must take note of the error. Understand????

Have you prepared yours today?

Today, Miss Chia taught us 2 things. I am gonna talk about the first one which is "Fail to prepare, Prepare to fail". Do you know the meaning of this? Well, it actually means that if you did not prepare, then you will fail. Miss Chia gave us an example too. You know the Chinese New Year decorations? Well, she said that if you want to win, then put in your 101% of effort. If you do not want to win, then FORGET ABOUT IT! Don't even do a single decoration since you don't want to win. So you wanna do well in your PSLE? Put in 1000% of effort and success will be gauranteed. SO work hard, be smart!
